Fleet Fueling Information

WEX Fuel Card

The contract to manage the state's fuel credit card has been awarded to WEX. Click the links below for more information.

WEX uses National Automobile Club (NAC) for emergency after-hours or weekend assistance.

To use NAC through the WEX virtual assistant, call 800-842-0071. Have the vehicle's WEX fuel card ready to provide the card numbers.

To reach NAC directly call 833-622-7377. Identify your agency/company as State of Oregon.

Any charges incurred will invoice DAS Fleet Administration. The agency will be billed on the monthly motor pool invoice.

Each vehicle has a designated WEX fuel card, which is intended for use only with that specific vehicle. If a card is lost or damaged, immediately contact the DAS Fuel Coordinator.

Refuel at the state motor pool facility in Salem whenever possible. When refueling elsewhere, verify the WEX fuel card is accepted before fueling your vehicle. You can visit WEX's fuel acceptance locator site or download WEX Connect, their free mobile app.

The WEX fuel card is scanned at the point of sale. Depending on which state fleet owns the vehicle you are driving, you may be prompted to provide the vehicle's current odometer as well as a PIN. Each state fleet (i.e., DAS, ODOT, OSP) monitors purchases related to their own vehicles. The process to authorize services may differ based on the requirements of the individual fleet. Some of the items checked at the point of sale are: total gallons of fuel purchased, number of times fueled during the past 24 hours, type of fuel purchased, and total cost of the purchase. Miscellaneous purchases other than fuel are also monitored.

The WEX fuel card is accepted at most major fueling stations, including ARCO, Fred Meyer, and Safeway.

Visit WEX's acceptance locator site to find retail fueling stations that accept the WEX fuel card. You can also download the WEX Connect free mobile app.

Contact the DAS Fuel Coordinator at 503-373-7744 or fleet.fuel@das.oregon.gov to report a lost, stolen, or damaged WEX fuel card.

WEX Q&A

Every time the WEX fuel card is used it will prompt you to enter a DIN/PIN (driver identification number or personal identification number) and the vehicle odometer. If you are unsure of your DIN/PIN, please contact your office manager or the DAS Fuel Coordinator at fleet.fuel@das.oregon.gov or 503-373-7744.

The WEX fuel card is accepted at most major fueling stations, including ARCO, Fred Meyer, and Safeway.

Visit WEX's acceptance locator site to find retail fueling stations that accept the WEX fuel card. You can also download the WEX Connect free mobile app.

WEX has a program referred to as WEXPay. If the fuel station you’re at doesn’t accept the WEX card, the merchant can call the 800# on the back of the card and get a single-use MasterCard account number for payment of the transaction.

Click here for more information about WEXPay.

The WEX fuel cards do not get locked out after three incorrect DIN/PIN have been entered. However, your card could get suspended by the WEX fraud department if they see any fuelings that look suspect to them. An example might be if they see 10 incorrect DIN/PIN attempts in a row, or if they see that you always fuel in Salem but then a fueling shows up in Florida. If either of these situations should occur, an email alert will be sent to the DAS Fuel Coordinator who will then research and confirm the WEX card is with the agency/driver of record and that the fueling was legitimate. The WEX card will then be reactivated in real time.

Contact the DAS Fuel Coordinator at fleet.fuel@das.oregon.gov or 503-373-7744, or the state motor pool front desk at 503-378-4377.
